Narconon Arrowhead Drug Addiction Centers – Success Story

When I got to drug rehab, I was a complete wreck. I had horrible communication skills, no control over my life and couldn’t handle anything. But through this drug rehab program, I have grown in so many ways. I can look people in the eye when I talk to them again. I feel 100% better physically. I no longer feel that I need drugs just to get by. I have learned the tools that I need to handle any situation in life and I have also learned how to apply them. I have a better relationship with my family. This drug rehab program is awesome and it has made me a completely different person from what I was four months ago when I walked in the doors to Narconon Arrowhead. L.S.

Addiction Clinics and Addiction

Addiction Clinics
Addiction clinics are generally out-patient facilities which offer various services to aid in addiction recovery. Some, such as methadone clinics, are actually involved in simply substituting one drug or another. This is misguided help as replacing one drug with another is never a long term solution to drug addiction. This is not to say that addiction clinics don’t offer some valuable services, most of them do. An addiction clinic can be a starting point in confronting addiction. Following up clinic services with a comprehensive long term, impatient drug rehabilitation program is the best insurance for a drug free productive life. Narconon Arrowhead is such a facility.

Heroin Addiction and Addiction

Heroin Addiction
With regular heroin use, tolerance develops. This means the abuser must use more heroin to achieve the same intensity or effect. As higher doses are used over time, physical dependence and addiction develop. With physical dependence, the body has adapted to the presence of the drug and withdrawal symptoms may occur if use is reduced or stopped. Withdrawal, which in regular abusers may occur as early as a few hours after the last administration, produces drug craving, restlessness, muscle and bone pain, insomnia, diarrhea and vomiting, cold flashes with goose bumps (‘old turkey’), kicking movements (‘kicking the habit’), and other symptoms. Major withdrawal symptoms peak between 48 and 72 hours after the last dose and subside after about a week. Sudden withdrawal by heavily dependent users who are in poor health is occasionally fatal, although heroin withdrawal is considered much less dangerous than alcohol or barbiturate withdrawal.

Addiction Treatment and Addiction

Addiction Treatment
The decision to face the need for addiction treatment, whether it is for oneself or for one’s loved ones) is never an easy decision and one is often left with the ‘hope’ that the decision made was a good one. Long term treatment options have proven to be much more effective in preventing continual relapse that often occurs following the more short term addiction treatment options. Addiction treatment should also be an empowering experience, giving the addict the tools needed and putting them into a position to actually change the conditions of their lives and so be able to actually maintain a drug free and productive life. Narconon Arrowhead is a long term, non-traditional addiction treatment facility, routinely creating drug free productive lives for life!

Crack Cocaine Addiction and Addiction

Crack Cocaine Addiction
The chemical cocaine hydrochloride is commonly known as cocaine. Some users chemically process cocaine in order to remove the hydrochloride. This process is called ‘freebasing’ and makes the drug more potent. ‘Crack’ is a solid form of freebased cocaine. It is called ‘crack’ because it snaps and cracks when heated and smoked. Traditionally, cocaine was a rich man's drug, due to the large expense of a cocaine habit. Now, crack is being sold at prices low enough that even adolescents can afford to buy it. But, this is misleading, since once a person has a crack cocaine addiction, his ‘habit’ often increases, and so does his expense.
